Please check the box for the person you want to vote for and email the ballot to ballot@cnypca.org. if you click on the pdf file there is an email option on the upper left (looks like an envelope). Click on that and it will help you email the ballot.

There is also a ‘regular’ mail option on the ballot with address on the ballot.

The ballot needs to be returned by the end of the day on 11/1/2015.

If you have any questions or would like me to email you a ballot directly please let me know at president@cnypca.org

The ballot will also be available on the CNY website.

It would be a good idea to print out your ballot and keep a copy.

Treasurers resumes

Dear CNYPCA Members,

I am honored to have been nominated to serve our region as Treasurer for 2015-2017.

I want to tell you about myself and my qualifications for the position of Treasurer of CNYPCA.

My husband Ed and I joined the Porsche Club of America in 1999 when we purchased our first Porsche, a yellow 1987 944S.  We still own that car which is now used mostly for Driver’s Education events.  Our other Porsches include a 1986 928 and a 1995 968.  We also own an Audi S5 which I have tracked once.  My current track car when not driving the 944S is a blue Mustang Cobra convertible.

We enjoy participating in many CNY and other regions’ events such as Driver’s Education, autocross, rally, concours, the charity auction, tours, tech sessions, and other social gatherings.  I am currently a Driver’s Education national instructor.  In the past several years, Ed and I co-host  the annual SVRA vintage race weekend CNY picnic at Watkins Glen.  I have also served as Registrar for Zone One which covers the 18 or so regional clubs in the northeast and Canada.

I have also been active in the Glen Region Sports Car Club of America where I served as Treasurer.  As Treasurer I oversaw an annual operating budget of $300,000.  My responsibilities included managing all aspects of the club’s financial records including races, track rental, autocross, banquets, rallies, donations, charitable contributions, insurance, receipts and disbursements, and investments utilizing Quickbooks computer software.

In my professional life, I retired after 30 years in law enforcement to change careers to become the Director of the Emergency Communications Center for Tompkins County.  After 7 years, I retired again and now work for a not for profit transportation company for senior and disabled persons.

Thank you for your consideration,

Lin Hurd

Bruce is the current Treasurer and has served CNY for the past 2 years.  He is particularly well suited for the position as he has been a CPA for 35 years.  After graduating from Cornell University with BS and MBA degrees, he worked in his chosen field since 1977 and opened his own firm in LaFayette 20 years ago.

Bruce is a 10-year PCA member who grew up in CNY.  Married with two grown children, he is an admitted “motorhead”, with a broad-ranging interest in automobiles, and is most proud of his beautifully-prepared 1984 944.  He spent many hours bringing this car back to prime condition.  His interest in cars began before junior high, racing karts in high school and getting his first motorcycle at 15 and still owning his 1968 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle purchased in college.  This background, and his 2004 acquisition of a very rough 944, prepared him for his involvement in PCA.

Bruce enjoys many of the events CNY offers particularly driver’s education which he has participated since 2005, concours, social events including planning & hosting the summer CNYPCA picnic’s with Sue Penny the past 2 years, and especially meeting and interacting with our CNY members as well as those from other PCA regions.  He is a firm believer in “It’s not just the cars, it’s the people.”

He also summarizes the accounting and prepares the Zone 1 tax return.

Bruce states that he would like to serve CNY as Treasurer for the next 2 years.

Oktoberfest 2015

Hello fellow ‘closet Lederhosen’ wearers! Get ready of the Oktoberfest event this weekend:

On August 15th and 16th the Central New York German-American Society will hold the 55th Annual Great Syracuse Oktoberfest at Longbranch Park in Liverpool, and we have again been invited to display our Porsches. This is a great opportunity to celebrate the German heritage of our very special cars. The event takes place from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm both days; Since we have our club picnic on Sunday it would be best to Bring your Porsche to the Oktoberfest on Saturday 8/15 (and then to the picnic on Sunday of course!). They have set aside a nice grassy area for us to display our Porsches which is close to all the action. The Oktoberfest offers great entertainment, including traditional German folk dancers, bands, and singers, as well as German food, beer, wine and tasty desserts. Bring your car, an appetite for fun, and lawn chairs. Admission and parking are free. For more information on the Oktoberfest visit their website at www.germanamericanscny.com which will provide event schedules and driving directions.

From the north and south take I-81 to I-690 West toward the NY State Fairgrounds/Baldwinsville. Take exit #4 and merge onto John Glenn Blvd. Turn right onto 35/Long Branch Rd. Follow Long Branch Road to the park on your left.

CNY PCA Family Picnic

Central New York PCA will hold its annual Family Picnic on Sunday, August 16, 2014.

This will be a relaxing day designed to check out some beautiful Porsches, fraternize with our car buddies, enjoy some good summertime food, kick back,

put our feet up, and enjoy a fine summer day in the shade of tall trees with cool lake breezes brushing past us.

We’ll be back at beautiful Taughannock Falls State Park on Route 89 just north of Ithaca again this year. We have secured the Creekside Pavilion for this year’s picnic– see directions below. The Porsches will be parked for display on the grass with Cayuga Lake in the background. This is a beautiful setting to take great pictures of your favorite car!

We will once again have a “Porsche Kids’ Cross.” We’ll lay out a miniature autocross course for the kids to participate with any non-motorized “vehicle” they would like – scooter, tricycle, bike – whatever they want to bring! We will have all the proper goodies –

2015 CNY-PCA Cobweb Concours

2015 CNY-PCA Cobweb Concours

Location – Porsche of Syracuse, 5885 East circle Drive, Cicero NY 13099

Date- 5-9-14

Time- 9:00AM to 3:00PM

Registration- Steve Turco, sturco1@twcny.rr.com. Provide year and model of Porsche being entered. Please RSVP by 5/7/15

Welcome to the 2014 CNY-PCA Cobwebb Concours. This annual Spring Event is being held at the Porsche of Syracuse’s Drivers Village location. The annual event is now over 20 years of partnering with Kent Appleby and his Porsche contacts at this location. There will be “people’s choice” judging on all classes of your Porsche models new, old and in between. Trophies will be awarded after the judging concludes. Kent has also set up a lunch for attendees along with snacks and give aways. Please note that the cost for this years entry is $10.00 per person which includes the snacks, lunch and a guaranteed “Good Time” ! This will also offset the trophy costs which are provided by Porsche of Syracuse.

We will be using the same format that we used last year – the previous year’s First Place winners entered in a Grand Champion Competition. The entries will be judged as a “people’s choice” and a Grand Champion Trophy will be awarded to that winner !

There is also a Porsche of Syracuse Service Clinic scheduled from 8:00AM to 4:00PM. An outstanding time to have the Porsche Techs get you ready for Spring and the driving season. Please contact Kent Appleby directly for an appointment, kenta@burdickcars.com  or 315-699-2661.

I look forward to seeing you all and meeting the new members. This is an inside event so rain or shine we’ll have a great time. Please contact me and let me know what model & year Porsche you’re bringing and a head count for the lunch & snacks.
