2014 CNY Family Picnic

2014 CNY Family Picnic – Sue Penny

Nearly forty people took advantage of the weather, which could not possibly have been any better, to drive their favorite vehicle to one of the Finger Lake’s most beautiful state parks on Sunday, August 10th  for CNY PCA’s annual Family Picnic.

The cars were lined up on the grass along the north entrance to Taughannock Falls State Park, creating a Porsche Honor Guard for all the park’s visitors.

Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs along with a wonderful selection of snacks, salads, casseroles, and desserts were enjoyed by all.  Jim and Diane Brown bring a themed cake every year, made by their local bakery.  This year’s cake, a rich chocolate one, was a detailed rendition of a Porsche wheel, complete with silver spokes and color-perfect Porsche centerpiece.

Everyone enjoyed visiting with friends, old and new, under the shade of the pine trees.  We welcomed veteran club members as well as some brand new members (Joe and Elaine Coppola, Gary and Elizabeth Kittell). Great food, Great people, Great conversations, great day!

(note for President – nice job Sue! I sure wish I could have been there, as you say – it looks like  everything was great!)

Octoberfest in August

Octoberfest in August – Rich Ertinger

Prosit !!

On Saturday August 16th our club was invited to display member’s cars at the 54th annual Great Syracuse Oktoberfest which is put on each year by the German American Society of Central New York.  We had a wonderful turnout with 23 beautiful Porsches and three other German marques owned by our members.  Notably,  this was a first-time CNY PCA event for five Porsche owners, and we hope that this will encourage them to attend  future club events.  We were given a nice grassy area at Longbranch Park in Liverpool to park our cars and we were fortunate to have good weather until the last car left.  Attendees enjoyed German music and dancing and of course German food and beverages which some of our members also volunteered to help prepare and serve.  The Oktoberfest organizers definitely would like to have us back next year, and they are likely to add to the display by inviting other German auto makes as well.

Note from President – I’d like to thank Rich for taking the time and effort to set up a new event for CNY. This looks like something we should add to our annual list of events!
