CNY PCA Family Picnic

Central New York PCA will hold its annual Family Picnic on Sunday, August 10, 2014. (note: this is a change from the date originally published on the CNY PCA calendar)

This will be a relaxing day designed to check out some beautiful Porsches, fraternize with our car buddies, enjoy some good summertime food, kick back, put our feet up, and enjoy a fine summer day in the shade of tall trees with cool lake breezes brushing past us.

We’ll be back at beautiful Taughannock Falls State Park on Route 89 just north of Ithaca again this year.  We have secured the Creekside Pavilion for this year’s picnic– see directions below.  The Porsches will be parked for display on the grass with Cayuga Lake in the background.  This is a beautiful setting to take great pictures of your favorite car!

We will once again have a “Porsche Kids’ Cross.”  We’ll lay out a miniature autocross course for the kids to participate with any non-motorized “vehicle” they would like – scooter, tricycle, bike – whatever they want to bring!  We will have all the proper goodies – a tech inspection, a driver’s meeting, timing equipment and awards!  So bring out the kids and grand kids, they’ll have a great time!

Please join us for this fun and relaxing day for the entire family!

2014 Cobweb Concours at Syracuse Porsche

We had a another in a string of attendance records! I believe that this was the most cars and attendees at a Cobweb Concours yet! The weather was great for the event, warm and mostly sunny for an early May day in Central New York. I heard that some of the Southern Tier folks were rained on as they drove home. Not me, top down and ice cream cones were the order of the day!

Steve Turco put on a well organized event (with the help of Brian Daily and Jill Vasina) and Burdick came though with some great trophies and lots of give aways (Hats, Shirts, Mugs, Calendars and some nice umbrellas). In addition the Burdick guys performed quite a few complimentary tech inspections for members Porsches. Lunch was very nice and I believe that everybody had a great time.

A group drive to the Cornell lab of ornithology in Ithaca, NY

Saturday May 24, 2014 (Memorial Weekend)

8:00a.m. gathering at Skaneateles Kwik

Fill parking lot (797 W. Genesee St.)

11a.m. end

Here is another excuse to meet new friends and drive our awesome autos! While we have many club members who enjoy birding and driving their Porsches…why not link them safely together, given that looking to the sky while driving can be hazardous! So, we will meet early morning and then our group will drive to the birding site.

Plan to meet on Saturday morning at the Kwik Fill gas station parking lot in Skaneateles on 797 W. Genesee Street Rd. at 8.m. Our group will leave at 8:15 for our drive down to Ithaca to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. This is a terrific venue for bird watchers of any level!

We will arrive at Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary located at 159 Sapsucker Woods Rd. at approximately 9:30a.m. (For those interested in joining us here.) There, we will walk along easy trails for bird spotting and offer basic birding tips [I will have handouts]. Feel free to bring your binoculars and cameras. Smart phone bird ID apps like “Merlin” from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology is free for iPhones (Android version due 6/2014) to download.

We will wrap up the birding session inside the Visitor Center of Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary for any birding questions and/or your own self-guided tour. The End…

unless there is interest in developing thoughts of what to do next!

Please RSVP to Cathie so we have an idea on how many people will be attending.

There is no charge for this event
